Use inclusion

Beyond the editorial "We," which represents the staff of a publication, you might also want to use the sense of "we" to include the reader in your argument. Often, you can do this by bringing up points on which the majority of the audience would agree.

Example: Certainly we all want what is best for our bodies while at the same time we want what is best for the world. But in this case, what is best for our bodies is what is best for the world.

Using your own sample argument, use inclusion to relate to the reader by commenting below.

  1. We all want to lower health insurance as well as good health care. But no. We don't want good, we want better. Heath insurance is a very important part of our health care. If we can not afford it then its not as helpful. What is best, always has a chance to get better.

  2. Certainly we all want to be healthy and not dead. But in this pandemic of Swine Flu, being healthy and not dead might be hard if we don't take immediate action.

Obviously, we all want to lead safe healthy lives. And if the answer to that is health care, we definitely need to make it available to everyone.

Efficiency isn't a bad thing and neither is convenience, but taking some time out to just slow down isn't a bad thing either.

  7. Certainly we want to avoid death or excruciating pain, but the swine flu is not the situation that calls for this type of fear.

  8. We can all agree quite easily that pollution and global warming are important concerns in society today--both are also problems that involve the environment and the air we breathe. In the same way, tobacco smoke drifting in the air until it is breathed in by some unknowing citizen is a concern to the environment and the air we breathe in--more so even!

Certainly we want to help rebuild a nation destroyed by it's ruler and provide safety. But helping won't solve all of the world's problems. We should also learn to help ourselves while protecting the world from others.

Like everyone else, we all want control. Control to ride a horse, being CEO or just control of you own life. Every single person want something that they control. School can be overwhelming, so the student find that being competitive and getting into a good college means they have control of there life and there future. That we as society, are not spinning out of control.
