Call to action

Toward the end, but before your conclusion, it is a good idea to make a clear and strong call to action, in which you tell the reader exactly what she or he should do or think.

Example: So the time has come to take back the tap. Rather than overpaying for a product that you don't need, invest $15 in a reusable water bottle that saves you and your environment. Then, write a letter to Congressman Mike Honda telling him why you've made the change and how he can do the same on a much bigger level by supporting the ban of plastic water bottles.

Using your own sample argument, make a clear call to action by commenting below.

  1. Let's stop this before it is too late to fix the problem. Rather than overpay for health insurance, we can invest our money in the hospital and store it for a very important time. We should also make health care free when the person is in danger and a life should cost more than the money. After this we should write a letter to the US Health Association to make health insurance affordable and free health care, when in near-death situations. Making this one change can save so many lives.

  3. Its one of those rare occasion again where a deadly pandemic hits the world. Rather than being calm and relaxed, we should be panicking about this deadly disease that can kill you or your loved ones. Luckily, this disease can be easily solved by regular health care conditions. We, together, can defeat this disease.

Let's get rid of this issue before it gets out of hand. Rather than getting treatment for the virus, stop it from spreading to you in the first place. Wash your hands daily after being in a crowded area. Then, try to convince others to do the same, by telling them how much it will help the others. Make this change and you won't have to deal with it.

So now the answer is clearly in front of us. Heath care is essential for not only America's future, but the whole world's. The only way to get this started is to lend a helping hand to the less privileged people in this world. For this project, we all need to work together to achieve universal health care.

  6. Let's stop this before more and more innocent people die. The answer is clearly in front of us--propose a bill to ban texting. We must work together to get this signed and passed for the welfare of others in our world as well as the safety of ourselves.

  7. Take a step back and evaluate your actions. Are they justified or are they an overreaction to a trivial flu. It is the time that we realize that our actions have consequences, its the ripple effect: a drop in the pond makes the whole pond ripple. Now we must restrict our selfish actions, that provide us with comfort and harm the innocent, and respond to this flu sensibly.

Let's solve the problem. Drug abuse is basically a disease spreading across the nation and the only way to stop it is willpower and knowledge. Spread the word about drug prevention.

Don't keep saying you'll work now so you can spend time later, spend some time now with your family and friends, then work later. Bring everyone together to have some quality relaxation.

So the time has come to put aside your worries about the swine flu, and worry about more pressing issues, like the failing economy.

It's now or never. This year's AP testing students have already suffered, let's not let it happen to next years kid. Talk to you schools, talk to the board. It is time to fix the torture that is the AP schedule.

Teachers need to stop relying on computers. They don't know the frustration students feel when technology is not working with them. Students need to remind teachers the importance of writing their work. Maybe then teachers will remember how they used the reliable good ol' fashion paper and pencil.

  13. You can help preserve the environment and save all those marine animals and birds by simply replacing your plastic bags with a cloth bag. Then, spread the word and persuade your friends to start using cloth bans or maybe even start a petition to ban plastic bags in your city.

So while we can't make all of the world's problems vanish along with the people who cause these problems, we can and must take the initiative to protect the people at home while tracking down those who must be punished. At home, we must work to strengthen our domestic security and secure our borders. Beyond, we should prioritize and pursue the real problems at hand.

    ReplyDelete
  15. In order to make this goal a reality, all you have to do is write to your (local) senator about introducing an initiative to Congress.
In cases like this, it is the quantity not the quality, that matters. The more letters our senator receives, the higher chance there is for our voices to get heard. Simply writing a short letter and mailing it is it--it's that easy.
Take this small step to do something that could help the nation's health improve for the better. Take this small step to avoid breathing in the invisible killer that will take the final toll on your health and you.

People judge Monta Vista as an "Asian" competitive school because of all the pressure and stress. But they should see beyond this stereotype because Monta Vista is much more than just that.

So, let's pick up our own trash and make a brighter future for the school. We need to take action now, not later.

    ReplyDelete
  18. So now is the time for teachers to realize the possibility of a dangerous hazard. Place limits on gifts, and favoritism will have a much tougher time infecting the judgement of academic performance.

  19. The time has come for the library to open its doors once again. Allow students to use the library, before, during and after school. The library is here to help students, and if it's not available when the students are, then it cannot fully fulfill its purpose. (p.s... I thought I commented on this during class...)

  20. Teachers should take action to stop assigning group tests. They're an unfair way to measure the dedication of students, and can lead to them not getting the grade they truly deserve. For years, tests have been, and should remain, individual activities.

    ReplyDelete
  21. So, we a young adults, and students need to make the point that Monta Vista starts too early in the morning. If we want to continue being the prestigious school we know that we are, the students must be able to have a good nights sleep. So as a student at MV, you should write a letter to administration explaining why you feel we need to have school start later in the morning. The more rested you are, the better you will feel throughout the day.

As our own generation we should have a say as to what people think of us. Automatically adults think, we are going to scum under pure pressure and do drugs or drink alcohol or smoke. Automatically adults think that our generation will be having sexual intercourse before he age of sixteen or that we are immature and not mentally stable to handle certain things. But we are! And as our generation we should take a stand and prove them wrong. We should take control and change the way adults think about us. What they 'automatically' assume what we are and what we do.

    ReplyDelete
  23. As Monta Vista students, we need to make sure that the administration is well aware of this issue. Write to the administration, talk to them, petition. Use your skills to get their attention, and the communities attention about this issue.

  24. So now the time has come. Our nation is based on the belief in the power of the people. We should exercise our rights and elect leaders in who we would always believe represent the best of us. After all, leaders lead, and the rest will soon follow.

  25. Power comes in numbers. And with this, we can certainly persuade the government to devise a plan for universal healthcare.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Now is the time for you to take back the minutes that were stolen from you, and get your number unlisted in the phonebook. Our society doesn't need any more complications, especially at home. Take a stand and report telemarketers that disrupt your life. It's about time we had a chat with a friend over the phone, and not a stranger.

  27. So now the time has come. How old are you? 14? 15? 18? Do you feel the power coursing through your veins? Anticipation rising with every short-lived breath and held-back sigh? Respect your parents and your wishes, but at the same time, fight. Fight for what you believe in, fight for a life of your own. Fight the authority that is dictating your norm. And only when you have fought and looked back on your well worn out path, and embraced what the world has to offer, will you be able to decide if you were right, if you lived a life worth living.

It is time to take action and effort. As still young people, we must take the time to warn others about this flu and not make such a joke about it. Rather than sitting around and worrying about every person who coughs and trying to stay away, find the real facts and stay active and healthy.

  29. Let's put an end to this problem before it's too late. It has been going on for too long and the longer it goes on, the more damaging to the students it's going to be. It's time to take action for this situation we have caused and overlooked for quite a while.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Lets take a step back and look at what we've caused and how we can fix it. We have to realize that every action counts. It's not too late to start. Don't wait until it is too late.

  31. Before global warming wrenches itself out of our grasp and control, let us take a step forward by holding ourselves to higher standards. We are above purchasing gas guzzlers simply because we enjoy our addiction to fossil fuels. We are above ignoring global warming. We are above being reluctant to participate in a win-win situation.

We are above all of that...
but only if we believe it.

  32. The most important thing a girl can do is to make sure that she is being the best person she can on the inside. She should understand that being physically beautiful will not get her anywhere if she does not have beautiful personality. Going through extreme diets and piling on layers of makeup will not help her achieve her anything without a strong personality.

It is not too late to change the mindset of many MV students. By learning how to accept all possible outcomes of your effort, you will be indirectly inspiring others to adapt this humble personality as well. Be fair to yourself, your character, and your expectations. Then, serve as a counterexample to everyone else and assist them in learning the basic steps to maturity.

  34. Let's take the responsibility of stopping the deadly spread of this disease. Rather than not using the technology and instruments we already have and trying to further our research, we should help the many people suffering from the disease with the use of our current, already advanced technology. And by doing this, it will not be only the people suffering who will feel content that they are getting treatment to be cured, but also the families of the patients because they know that their loved ones are going to be with them for a longer time. It's not too late to realize what we have. We just need to use it.

  39. It is time for the youth of the United States to accept their responsibility to take care of the government that they will inherit. If you know someone who can vote and isn't voting, tell them about their duty to their nation and why their vote matters. If we can get everyone to vote, the United States would be more of a representative democracy.

This is time for us to get off of our cushy, buttery-leather Cupertino-typical couches and walk on the paths that we might not be familiar with. It is time for us to put ourselves aside and think of someone else for once. By proposing parenting classes for all expecting parents to take, there will be a decrease in child abuse cases as the result of drugs and alcohol, depression, and marital abuse.
